A PRIZE FIGHTER'S SURPRISE.
"KNOCKED OUT" BY A WOMAN.
PARIS, July 15. A professional pugilist known as the "Terror of Paris" was performing in a booth at the Montmartre fair early this morning, and was much elated that he had signally vanquished all who had ventured to try conclusions with him, when his challenge to fight anyone was accepted by a tall, well-built woman.
To liis dismay he found himself confronted by a former "flame," Pamela Gorse, well known as the ' ' female Hercules," whom he had discarded in favour of a less muscular lady. She began by knocking him down before he had time to say a word. After a painful suspense the Terror struggled to his feet and attempted to clinch, but Mme. Hercules fairly danced round him. She landed several masterly undercuts, besides some sledge-hammer blows straight from the shoulder and watching her opportunity gave him a knock-out blow on the chin, which stretched him senseless on the floor. She then stalked majestically out, none daring to stop her. The "Terror" is now in the Lariboisiere hospital, and the question whether the "lady Hercules" shall be arrested is under consideration.
