NAPIER CHAMPIONSHIP iMEKTING. Per Press Association. NAPIER, Sept. 9. Tho annual amateur championship meeting of i he Napier dolf Club opened to-day on tho Waioliiki links. The weather was warm, but a strong westerly wind prevailed until late in the afternoon. Tho first event was the men's handicap, one, round against bogey, and a\;is won by M. Fen wick (handicap 10). J. Dowie, J. Circuim (10), and W. E. Knight, Dannevirke (2), each I down, tied for second place. Tho following fifteen players qualified for the championship: — Kurupo Tareha, 11. S. Hamilton, JI. I}. Lusflc, Kapi Tarcha, G. X Thorburn, W. U. (VIIktlv, A. liarraud, ft. S. Peareo, V. Tlarman, 11. Kawhi, E. A. Dargaville, Major E. R. Cordon, \V. Strang, F. T. Hoys, and .7. Circuim. Tho sixteenth player will ho either A. Horthwick, W. T. Peacock, or H. Peacock.
