The* deceased was highly respected, as was evidenced by the largo number of wreaths that wore fori warded, including those from tho Wai1 tara Racing Club and Regatta. In reference to rating on unimprov- • ed values, tho action of tho Borough ; Council in declaring tho petition prei sontod at tho last mooting informal . on account of some of tho signatories - not boing ratepayers, has caused a s good deal of comment amongst tho promoters.
