YOUNG, HOBBS, AND CO.'S REPORT.
Messrs Young, Hobbs, and Co. report: — s On Tuesday, Ist inst., we held our monthly sale of above produce, haying a good average catalogue of 200 hides, 400 sheepskins,. 7 casks tallow, calfskins, bones, horsehair, etc. Owing to the improved outlet for all classes of produce, we had an increased attendance of buyers, and bidding was spirited throughout. Well-preserved hides improved Jd to id per lb, sheepskins showing id to |d rise, according to condition. Owing to increased demand of the latter product for export to London and Canada, we would recommend clients to carefully dry their sheepskins instead of salting. Calfskins met with keen competition, and, considering the quality we offered, realised higher prices than anything reached last season. .We expect this demand will continue for the next few months fpr all carerully-flayod, wellpreserved, clean calfskins.
