AFTER MIDNIGHT.

F WELLINGTON, Sept. 5. In the House after, midnight the Second Ballot Bill was passed through committee. Some new clauses were . added, on the Premier's motion. One l makes it unlawful till after the official \ declaration of a poll, where another ballot is required, for a candidate or I anyone acting for him to convene or address a meeting or print or publish * anything calculated to influence votes under a penalty not exceeding £200. Another new clause limits the expenses I of any candidate at a second ballot to £50. Motueka electorate is placed in the list of districts in which a fortI night is to be allowed before the second poll. \ , The Bill was reported with amendments.
