A decided acquisition to the list of sires to stand in this district during the coming season will be the thoroughbred horse Stepson, a chestnut son of Stepniak out of Britomarte. Stepson stands 16.2. He is all over a thoroughbred, compactly built with good quarters and sound hard bone. . His breeding is of the best, descending as he does from the best and most successful strains of blood that have ever appeared on the New Zealand turf. Stepniak, his sire, has headed the list of winning sires in the Dominion for two or three years. Stepson's pedigree also embraces such horses as Traducer and Musket. Stepson is a winner on^thc turf, one of his wins being at Hawerfc, when he won a six furlongs race in- 1 mm. 15sec. He has, been travelling m the Wanganui district for the past four seasons and has, some most promising youngsters are coming to the fore. Last year he was mated with the Eaton Park Stud mares. Besides giving promise of being speedy Kis stock are also full of show quality, his progeny having won several", of rs&e most coveted honours" at Wanganui during the last two years. Stepson arrived from Wanganui yesterday. He' is at present accommodated at the White Hart Stables, where he may -be - inspected.
