An "extra," containing a short account of the Taranaki-Auckland Rugby match to be played this afternoon, will be issued from the Herald Office between 7 and 8 o'clock this evening. .A full report of the match, by "Harpastum," will appear in Monday's [ Herald. f The New Plymouth High School "broke up" yesterday for the second < term's holidays. The Tourist Department has received a letter from an Anglo-Indian civilian who purposes coming to the Dominion to undertake farming if, in the opinion of the Department, he is justified in coming with his small capital. He says he has only £3000 in cash and nothing in the world besides except £500 a year. He asks, "Can I live on this in New Zealand?" It is understood (says the New Zealand Times) the Department will be optimistic in its reply. Whilst passing along the East Coast en voyage to Melbourne, Mr J. A. Gilruth called in at Gisborne, where a teachers' winter school was in session. He delighted the teachers, taking them to the freezing work's, where he gavo a lesson in .anatomy by directing a sheep. AfteV showing how this was to be done, Mr Gilruth dealt with the thorax, showing its contents. Taking I the lungs, he pointed out certain points illustrating pleurisy in a human being, and also symptoms disclosing a similar disease to worms in dogs. The sheep was a good subject for the purpose, having at one time suffered from pleurisy and hydatid cysts. The heart was disseotpd, and its working illustrated. Mr Oilrutb tlien opened up the abdomen, and showed the stomach and its various parts, opening them and stating the functions of each.
