Information has been received ty Sergeant Haddrell of a boating accident at Awakino yesterday which resulted in the death <tf a storekeeper named C. Govenlock. * Tlie information is meagre. Govenlock and three othe* residents of Awakino: — Albert Perrott, Fred Halmond^ And P, Halmond— had been fishing at the" mouth oi the Awakino river. While returning to the township the boat capsized in the rollers. Govenlock was drowned, and one of the other members of the party was only rescued with much difficulty. Govenlock was widely known in the district. He identified himself with jocal interests. He was a good rifle shot. An inqnest is being held at' Awakino to-day. The\T>ody which has evidently been" recovered, will probably^ be brought to N«w Plymouth for burial.
