CAPSIZE OF THE BEGA.
EVIDENCE AT THE INQUIRY. A COWARDLY SAILOR. By Electric Telegraph. — Copyright. (Received April 16, 9.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, April 16. At the inquiry into the loss of the steamer Bega passengers gave evidence that tho vessel had a list when she left the wharf at Lathra. One of the boats was very leaky and the only bailer was a boot.' They had great difficulty in keeping jthe boat afloat. , One passenger deposed that he had been handed a knife by a sailor and asked to cut the painter of the women's boat which was being towed. Other evidence showed that the Bega was carying less cargo than usual, but that tho cargo was well stowed.
