A SCHOONER ASHORE.
Auckland, April 15. — The schooner May Howard, while inward bound from Hokianga, ran ashore at 6 a.m. to-day during a thick fog, about half-way between the Narrow Neck and Lako Takapuna beach. She is lying on a sandy bottom, with a reef on* either side. The weather and sea are quite calm, and it is expected that she will be floated off at high tide to-night. She must have gone ashore on the top of the tide, and may have to be towed off. Auckland, April 16. — The schooner May Howard, which went aground owing to a fog yesterday, was floated last night. She did not sustain any serious damage. Anticipating a fair number of passenger^, tho Union Company has obtained a permit to carry an extra number on the Takapuna to-night. The Rotoiti arrived at 6 o'clock this morning from Onehunga with 25 tons of general cargo,' and sailed for Wellington at 8.15 with 20 tons. The Corinna is expected to arrive at the wharf to-morrow night. She will leave on Saturday for Auckland with 600 sheep, and returns here on Monday. The s.s. Muritai sailed yesterday afternoon for Onehunga with cattle and sheep. The Takapuna arrived from South this morning with 90 tons of general cargo. She will sail for Onehunga at 8.30 this evening. The Patea Shipping Company's steamer Kiripaka, which arrived at Wellington on Tuesday, stuck at the mouth of the Patea River whilst attempting to leave port for Wellington on Sunday morning. She remained fast, but managed to get off on Sunday evening's tide and sailed for Wellington on Monday evening. No damage resulted.
