EGMONT COUNTY COUNCIL.

The Council met on Triday* ;Ap*il 10th. Present: — Messrs *M- Fleming (chairman), Campbell, Conaglen A Coffin, Dudley, Maxwell, arid Warner,! . \ ( A letter was read from . the. Mr Murray, District Road Engineer, wrote to the effect that 'two miles pf the Parihaka road was t . formed and metalled many years ago by native labour. From there to Okahu road, a distance of 3i miles, is still Untouched, and is covered, t*ith scrub at lower, end, ' and the svirfa'co is broken up byiabrupt rises and falls with many creeks. 'This part will cost £1500 to convert- into a 12ft dray road. From Okahu Rofed to' Tohu Road is 1 Jmiles in length. This part was felled and cleared about 10 years ago, but is again grown up in, scrub. He- estimated that it would cost £300 to clear: and form a 12ft track, ,aiid £1800 to make a drajr road. . Of this a fair division would be for the Public Trustee, £900, loan on Native sections; Government grant £450; Parihaka l*oad Board £450, Joan on sestions, above Okahu Road, and he had noted the second item for consideration in tho next .
