ACCIDENT TO THE KARORI.

MAILS TRANSHIPPED AT SEA. Sydney, April 13. — The steamer Perth reports that she saw rocket signals of distress off the Tasmanian coast at midnight on Friday. She bore down and found the steamer Karori with a broken thrust shaft. The Perth stood by till Saturday night and transhipped the mails. The Karori's engineers effected repairs, The vessel is proceeding to Sydney under easy steam. (Received April 14, 9.20 a.m.) Sydney,, April 14.— The Karori is expected to reach Sydney on Thursday. '• The Rotoiti arrived at 6 o'clock this \ morning from Wellington and Nelson, with 165 tons of cargo. Mr H. Williams, late chief of the Corinna, is chief officer. The Takapuna arrived .early this morning from Onehunga with 25 tons of cargo, including 200 cases of fruit. She sails it 4 p.m. to-day for Wellington, with 160 sacks of hides, 350 boxes of butter, and 20 tons general cargo. The Muritai is expected at the breakwater to-night. She will sail for Onehunga to-morrow with 13 head of cattle and 150 sheep. The Corinna is due on Friday morning, from Lyttelton direct. After discharging cargo she will proceed to Onehunga on Saturday night with 600 sheep, returning here on Monday and loading for South as usual. It is uncertain at present whether the Rotoiti will be despatched at 6 a.m. on Thursday for Wellington direct or via Nelson.
