HOSPITAL BOARD. MONTHLY MEETING.

"The- usual monthly meeting of the Taranaki Hospital and Charitable Aid Board was held this morning. Present: Messrs Fred Bellringer (in the chair), G/TBrowue, Burgess, Andrews, Hill, "J. Broivn, O'Sullivan, and McDonald. DELIRIUM TREMENS PATIENTS. Tho Inspector-General of Hospitals notified that hist Department would pay tho. Mr O'Sullivan said several Waitara people had spoken to him since the last meeting and had said they would do their bes^b to look -after Alee if the Board would' provide him with sufficient means to obtain food for himself. H& proposed that he should be allowed 7s 6d p«r week* Mr. McDonaldJ Seconded. Ho considered; the suggestion of Constable Price was too harsh. Mr Burgess said ho would oppose the motion unless it was agreed to add to it £hat the Waitara people would undertake to see that Aiec was kept in proper condition. Mr Brown said ho took tho same stand as Mr Burgess. There was too miich sentiment imported into these things. They were there not to consider sentiment. If there was anyone in Waitara who would not give an undertaking to properly look after Alee then he would be prepared to give the proposal a trial. Mr Browne also said he would oppose the motion unless there was some undertaking im the part-tof Waitara people to look alter Alec and call in a doctor if necessary. He was not opposed to giving this man 7s 6d per week if he had any relatives who could look after him, but having no relatives he ,thought he would bef better looked after in the Home. •',/ The motion was lost.' OTHER BUSINESS. Miss Ovenden forwarded her resignation of the charge of the children in her care at the veale Road Home. Mr. . M. J. Broqkes (We lliugton) wrote that the trustees of the funds* raised for Miss Lynn Mills, th" Australian, ".singer who, was injured in an 'accident here and spent several months in the local Hospital, ' stated that she waa still incapacitated and that there I was very little money left. They thought the best plan for the Board to adopt would be to forward the account direct to Miss Mills, at Sydney. The secretary said this would be done. Miss J. Reay, Urenui, and Miss M. L. "Croot, Mangatoku, were placed on the probationers' list. , Orfthe motion of Mr Browne seconded by Mr Burgess it was decided to 'inform the Borough Council that the •Board was of opinion the time had not jarrived when an ambulance was re~ [quired to convey patients to the Hos?pital. •" ' The manager of the Old People's 'Home reported that from February ;17th to April 13th five persons had 'be«L- admitted •to »the 'Home, their average ages beings about 79. There had been dne death during that period. The general health and discipline of the inmates had been good. Tho number of inmates in the Home was 28.
