CROWN LAND THROWN OPEN.
Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, April 9. Some 14,411 acres* of Crown lands were thrown 'open yesterday for selection during April, the time for receiving applications closing on the 29th instant. A ballot will 'be held on Ma> 8. Of the total amount, 13,814 acres are being opened on the optional scheme and 596 acres on the renewable lease tenure. All the land is described as second-class with the exception of the Great Barrier ilsland and another block in Tauranga County, which are scheduled as third-class.
