SCHOOL COMMISSIONERS.

The Taranaki Board pf School Com^ missioners nn?t at the office of the Secretary (Mr F. P. Corkill) this morning. ' Present : Messrs J. Wade (chairman), H. Faull, and F. Simpson. The Secret afy reported that the Education Board had notified the reappointment of Messrs Wade and FauH, but " no intimation had yet been received as to the gazetting of tho new Board. He pointed out that under the Education? Rosecves Act th'fe retiring Commissioners held office until their successors were gazetted. The Secretary also reported that he had l conferred with tho Town Clerk on the subject of rates claimed by the Borough of New Prj mouth >in respect of lands lately held by W. Courtney, and had furnished him with, information' showing that the Commissioners were not liable. A, letter was- received from P. B. Ross^ter, of Patea, who stated that h© vras.vpartially blind and unable to earn r a livelihood. Kaupokonui S.D., 71 acres, to Jamos Q'Dea for five years. — Agreed to. Walter Crump notified his readiness to go to arbitration and his willingness to accept Mr Marchant as sole, arbitrator. The Board resolved that in compliance with the request of Mr, Crump, lessee of part section 25, Tikoxangi District,. Mr G. A. Marchan^ should be appointed the solo arbitrator to fix the yearly rental and value, of the stibstantial permanent improvements witli a view to the renewal or" the lease. . . It was further resolved on the, motion ! of the Chairman and Mr Simpson that in compliance with the requests made^ by J. Cook, lessee of section 1089, etc., Town of New Plymouth, and by F. P. v Corkill, lessee of nart 1, etc., Town of New Plymouth, Mr Stanley W^ Shaw ishould be appointed the solo arbitrator Jor the purpose of the arbitrations to fix the yearly rentals and the value of. the substantial .permanent improve? •mentg witlv a view to the renflww of the respective leases at present' held by theiiG lessees. . _
