Crawford (hon: secretary), and several players. The Kia Ora Club (Inglewood) was affiliated. The annual report stated that the season 1907 had been the most successful since tho introduction ,'of the gam©, in Taranaki, " seven y^ar& ago. Annual mterprovincial matches had shown a steady increase, * Last seaBon six representative matches were played, of which three- (Manawatu, Thames and Wanganui) wero-wbn and three (Otago, kelson and Auckland) lost; goals for |4, against Hs 'An°*her Pleasing feature in cbnnec^feion with the game Vas the increasing popularity of the game to the public,, as evidenced at the representative matches played at New Plymouth last season. During the coming year there was a likelihood of visits- &om\ Wairarapa, Hawke's Bay, Wellington and Canterbury. Th» suggestion was made for- the consideration of tbo incoming committee that, if a strong representative team was available for the coming season, an early challenge should be sent to the Auckland Association, holders of the New Zealand Championship Challenge Shield. The amalgamation of the North an,d South Divisions last year provided' a 'more satisfactory inter-club competition, which was won by the Hawera Club, with Aew Plymouth one point behind. -Dealing with the rules of the game, the report referred to the action of the New Zealand Association in introducing a nefr rule in the middle °£ lasV^HKH*-, »." The report suggested that the Association should, submit a recommendation to the New Zealand body -that no netv - rules or alteration of rnles should be authorised during of a season. », The balance sheet showed a. small credit balance. ; The report and balance sheet were adopted. NEW ZEAtAND CHAMPIONSHIP ; . SHIELD. On Mr. Avery's motion, it ivas de* cided to at once forward a challenge to Aucidand for the New Zealand Chamoinship Challenge Shield. > HEADQUARTERS. i Mr. Ward, on behalf of the Inglel wood Club, moved — "That ihe headf quarters of the Taranaki Hockey Asso* ciation be at Inglewood.' 1 131 snp^ port of the motion, he said that hi thought Inglewood would be a mor<p convenient centre for meetings, and ft would be 4 *&ss^&£e v n v s'ive for, cl^ delegates attending meetings. He a^dded that there was no inference of dissatisfaction -ntfth the present cbnaxiot of affairs. •'•.-. Mr. Beere (Kia Ora) seconded. Mr. Avery opposed the motion. The change would not on - the whole be advantageous. Since the headquarters had been, at New Plymouth the game had made considerable progress in the district, and New Plymouth could, offer 1} a far better ground for representative matches. Mr. Tribe was opposed to the change. CAt present the country clubs were certainly put to the . expense of sending delegates to meetings. This, however t could be remedied by all the affiliated clubs equally bearing the cost "of country delegates' expenses. Other than this there was nothing to be said in favour of a change. He also 'mentioned that Waitara would probably have a team this season. The Chairman thought that with the present train arrangements New Plymouth was the more convenient place. On being put to the meeting, the motion was lost, Messrs. Ward and' Beere' being the only supporters. < OFFICE-BEARERS. Mr. F.
