NEW PLYMOUTH ABATTOIR.

The annual report of the work of the New Plymouth Abattoir ' has been issued, . i During the year ending March 31st, 1908, there were slaughtered for local consumption: — Cows 1372 (increase of 477), bullocks 721 (decrease of 315), calves 146 (decrease of 4), sheep 'TOlSHCincrease of 307), lambs' 1087 (decrease of 108), pigs 1708 (increase of 306). There were condemned. 43 cattle, 6 sheep and 19 pigs, , making a total .of 68. - v

The number of cattle slaughtered for export increased considerably during the year. The number of cows kitted was 1393 (increase .924), bullocks 30 (decrease 649), calves 18 (decrease 2), making a total of 2248 slaughtered, or - an. increase of 1535.
