He was crossing the train rails in Cathedral Square, when he slipped, and the Opawa steam tram, which was then coming in, struck him, the engine passing over *hftn."> When the tram stopped, he was found lying face downwards between the engine and the trailer. He had received terrible injuries, both legs being completely severed below the knee. He was quite unconscious at the time.
