NEW GOLD-MINING LAW.
ONLY WHITE LABOUR ALLOWED.

(Received March 28, 8.45 a.m.) ! PRETORIA, March 27. The new Rand gold-mining law vests the sole rights for the mining of gold in the Crown ; the rights for base metals aro vested in the landowners. The discoverer of a mine is to be granted fifty claims free. The Government may proclaim private land as mining land without the owner's consent, and may also erect public batteries and melting works. ■ < Only . whites, are to be allowed to trade on the mines. Coloured aliens are not to be allowed t to acquire any rights under the gold law or to reside, on any goldfield, except in bazaars in the locations now held by the mining compounds. , »
