THE PRICE OF FLOUR.

NEW PLYMOUTH RATES. The rise in the price of flour decided on $m Dunedln has been applied in Nov.Plymouth. The prices at the breakwater ' are : — Sacks £12 16s 6d per ton. Hundreds £13 6s 6d per ton. Fifties .....:... £13 11s 64 per ton. ' It is not 4 often that the prtee rises as high as at present, but on two occasions during the past ten. years the present ' rates have been surpassed.. In Jnne, 1898, the quotation at Christchurch was JBI3 per 'ton — £1 more than at present. From December, 1902, to February. 1903, the .price varied between £12 and £13. The lowest price touched for many years was £6 a ton (South Island quotation) in March', 1901. ,It is interesting to note how these prices compare with the prices of wheat. The Southern Flourmillers' Association claims that the price of flour has been tower in' proportion to the price of wheat ., since the formation of the association thfcn formerly. At the present time, with flour at £12 per ton, wheat is at 5s per. bushel.
