MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
WAITARA, July 26. A sitting of the Magistrate's Court was held on Wednesday,, before Mr; H, S. Fitzherbert.. •''
; Punga, a. 'Native; \ras charged with being on licensed premises. Mr. Wilkes appeared for defendant and explained that his client' bad run into the hotel in consequence of a threatened assault. Defendant Was convicted and discharged. W. Croker was fined 5s and costs (7s) for driving over ilie Waitarfc bridge at other than a Walking pace. I The following ..Labour Department cases were dealt -with, i—James,-William-son, for keeping his Bhop open* on June 13th, (the statutory , half-holiday, . was fined 10s 1 and costs . (7s). — E. : Beckbessinge, for failing to allow his assistant ,a hftlft-holiday, was fined 10s and- costs <Ys). — Sampson * HeHier, for keeping a shop open on. Thursday .afternoon, were fined 10s and" v c6sts M^7s).— J.' O. Cock, for failing /to keep an . overtime book, was~fined 5s and '7s costs. — D. Hutching son, for failing -to give his assistant a half-holiday and- not keeping an overtime book, was ijnjad? XOs .ajidncpsts.
