NEW ZEALAND RUGBY UNION.

(Per Press 'Association.)

WELLINGTON, July 25.

At a meeting of the management qommittee of the New Zealand Rugby Union this evening, a letter was read from the Wanganui Rugby Union, asking for its match with Auckland to be approved as an ordinary challenge match for the Ranfurly Shield. This was acceded to.

The question of the AucklandHawke's Bay match at Auckland on August 10 being declared a special challenge match again came up for consideration. The committee now decided that the match should be a special challenge, the Hawke's Bay Union being allowed transit expenses for a reasonable number of players from Napier to Auckland and back to Napier.

It was decided to ask the South Canterbury Union for further information about the player who was disqualified till the end of 1908 for being drunk on the fieldrof play, it being thought that the sentence on this person was too lenient.

Consideration of an appeal by the Gore Pioneer Club againsjt disqualification by the Southland Union was deferred for further information.
