IS IT WORTH THE MONEY?

The contract let by the Government for the construction of Arthur's Pass Tunnel on the Midland Railway, at a cost of £600,000, was strongly commented upon at a meeting of the. Chamber of Commerce. The opinion was generally expressed that the money could be used in other-ways so as to 1 give better returns. A resolution was" carried urging Auckland members to tak,e united action to secure; iair and jtist ablocation to Auckland province of moneys for railways and other public works. ;The resolution vigorously protested against the expenditure sanctioned for ithe Arthur's Pass Tunnels
