OKAU.

Mrs Payne, Okau, wrote: — "I received your letter. You informed me in accordance with Mr Faull's report that the Board decided to hold tho ! question of a school over for a while. ] think by the time you considered th" children would, be past school age. 1 think we have given you time to consider the matter, for it seems very hard that you can't give us a school in the district for the benefit of the children. I have eight ready for school from «~ years upwards and three younger. There are altogether — and all told — lo children to attend a school in Okau, so I think the way you are treating us is a disgrace to the School Board. . . Next time you write I hope I will hear better news."

Mr Faull reported that he had made inquiries about the provision of a school at Okau and could not recommend the opening of 'a full or half-time school there.

Mr Monkhouse moved and Mr Trimble seconded that the regulations for carriage of children to school and the regulations and customs attached to aided schools should be forwarded with necessary explanations. — Carried.
