The Government has accepted £1000 as the difference in value of a site belonging to-4ihe Government proposed to be conveyed in exchange- £or a site for a new Courthouse. The trustees first asked £1300.. The concession is consid^ ered likely to be very advantageous to ijhe town. A Chinaman named Lee, at Martinborough, has become bankrupt with liabilities over £1000 and an estimated deficiency of £300. He attributed his bankruptcy mainly to an;.iltfprontable partnership with a Maori/ He began business two' years ago with a capital of £28. . * ' ■'
