Some proceediiigs were taken in Invercij-rglll, and .ultimately she had to leave him altogether. The articles alleged to have* been stolen (with 'the exception of the white shirts) were articles her husband has given her while, they were" friendly . There was a dispute between the husband and wife, and the mother had nothiitg'to da with it, -except that she wVnt.ddwn and took her daughter away from the cruelty of the husband. He asked that a remand to Dunedin for eight days should be granted that he- might communicate with the prosecutor.

The Magistrate thought it was a complaint which would probably cool on second thoughts, and it would be- just as we'll to give< every chance for- a''settlement. The case was remanded till the 29th. Defendants were admitted to bail on sureties of £10 each, and another surety of £10 in each case.
