The Navua from, the Islands reports' that the volcanic disturbance reported from Tonga was located south-west of the island some miles from shore. The Premier of Tonga, who visited' the spot, states that there appear to be, vents not far from each other. There was a rushing, booming sound. A; column of smoke and steam,. mixed with black pumice, was thrown in the air with tremendous noise. ' The column was close on a hundred feet high. Tho vents were playing alternately, and should the outbreak continue, the formation of a new island is predicted. '
