RAHOTU.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) j July 18.— General regret is telt at the untimely death of Miss Ohvo | Wright, which sad event took place at j Wanganui, death being caused by an attack of measles. . I Mr Reginald Shaw, of this town, is laid up with a poisoned leg, presumably caused by a blow. We hope to bear of his speedy recoveryMrs F. M. Chapman has leased her Kahui Road farm to Mr Stewart Clarke, and Mr S. Tyrrell has leased one of his farms to Mr A. Corbett, of Warea. „ __ _ Messrs Wallath Bros., of New Plymouth, have the contract for building the cottage at the Rahotu Factory. Mr T. Parsons has been elected to the Hall Committee, vice Mr W. Green, resigned. The Opunake Timber Company are making a new entrance into their timber yards, which will be greatly appreciated by patrons. A large "tangi" was held near Rahotu during the week, the occasion being the death of "Dick" Rangi, which took place at Hawera. The deceased was one of the pupils to attend the Rahotu School when it was first opened 23 years ago. The Rev. Mr Haddon, Wesleyan Maori Missionary, from Patea, paid a visit to the Maoris of this district during the past week. The lady members of the Wesleyan Church are at present busy preparing for a bazaar to be held shortly. The bachelors of Rahotu intend giving a ball on the 31st August. Mr A. Langton, manager of the Oaonui Dairy Factory, met with an accident through being thrown from his bike, the result being "gravel rash" and a broken collar bone. /
