FIRE AT MASTERTON.

MASTERTON, Jtily 22.
A fire ocoufred on Sunday morning, which gutted the premises of Messrs. Walker & Thomas, bootmakers ; Young, tobacconist ; and Rebay, restaurant and provision merchant. It also damaged the upstairs portion of Messrs. Malsby's shooting gallery. ,The destroyed buildings are valued at £2,000 and insured for £1080. Insurances on the property are mostly* small. Some of the occupants experienced difficulty in escaping.
The insurances were: — On Mr Thompson's, $195 in the Alliance and £95 in the New Zealand.- Mr Monro, the owner of^the building, had insurances f»!« fitSO-in- the * North British, £100 in the North Queensland, £300 in the Northern, md £20Q in the Alliance ; Mr Hofloway, £360 in the Northern ; and Mr Young,, £100 in the South British,. v ' .', ";• ' " , A - r
