TARANAKI v. AUCKLAND.

The date for the Taranaki-Aucklarid rep* /fixture to be decided at New Plymouth will be August 22nd. We are informed by one of the mentbers of the Recreation Sports Ground Committee, that these grounds will not be ready* for play on that <jay. The Rugby Union is therefore endeavouring to arrange with the ' Auckland team to have r the match pjayed thi-ee weeks ' later on ' the return of the Northern men from their Southern tour, Should/this ccjum^be impps^ible the Western Park ground will be measured. ' The dimensions, if not up to full size, will be submitted to the Auckland team for their approval. If they should decline to have the match played at Western Park then the only alternative will ' be for the grtme to be played' on the Racecourse.. ,'

Star juniors intend ~ visiting Auckland. The secretary has written on several occasions to the officials of* an Auckland City. Club endeavouring to arrange . a match. He has not received even any acknowledgment of his communications. If no reply is to hand shortly, endeavours will be made to arrange a fixture with another club. „» It has been reported th^t the Auckland junior reps, intend' visiting Taranaki this season,. but the Taranaki Union has been unable to get any information from the Auckland Union on the' subject. ;;•."••-
