POLITICAL NOTES. (Telegraphed by Our ParliamentaryReporter.) WELLINGTON, July 19. QUESTIONS. Notice of the following questions has been given by Mr Okey: — To ask the Government whether, seeing that a considerable rise has taken place in the cost of kerosene oil in the colony, they will grant a substantial bonus to any person or company that ! will produce at least-five thousand cases of kerosene oil of approved quality from products obtainable in the colony? To ask the Minister for Railways whether he will make enquiries into the necessity of erecting yards for the purpose of loading and unloading stock ut the Sentry Hill Junction, Taranaki district ? To ask the Government whether they will bring in a measure empowering them, by Order-in-Council, to. removo the duty on* imported foods, such as potatoes, flo\ir, and. wheat after such articles exceed the normal price on account of failure of crops in the colony ? ! To ask the Minister for Agriculture whether the time has not arrived when the restrictions placed -on travelling stock on account of blackleg existing in the Taranaki district should be removed, as the district is now virtually free of that disease ? Notice has been given by Mr Jen- : nings to ask the Premier whether he will this session give effect to the recommendation made to this House last | session by the Public Petitions, M to Z, Committee, on the petitions of y, number of country newspaper proprietors asking for inquiry into the methods adopted by the Press Association in charging heavy entrance fees to newspapers before they are allowed to participate in the use of telegraphic news, although the State supplies same at a great reduction in telegraphic rates.
