GOVERNMENT SECURITIES.

The following are the latest quotations for Government securities with a comparison with those ruling last week : —

THE MONEY MARKET. The market rate of discount for best three months bills is 3 1-16 per cent, as against 3 15-16 last week.

The wheat markets are hardening on the evidence that European crops will be considerably below the average of the past five years. There is good demand for cargoes at from 34s l£d to 34s 6d. Flour — Quiet, and prices firm. . Bradford wool is generally firm. Sixties, super, 28d. At the sheepskins sales 3790 bales offered, of which 3150 were Australasian, and 3540 sold.. There was an average attendance, ' but competition was occasionally slow. Merino combings were at -from -par to «T farthing 'deafer than ; May rates, clpthinjg a farthing to a halfpenny lower/ cfossbreds combings •'par to a halfpenny lower.

Butter — Dull, and prices unchanged. There is. no demand for colonial, except very choicest. ;META£ MARKETS. Copper — On spot £96, three months £90 10s.
