WAITARA WEST ROAD BOARD.

At the monthly meeting of above Board there w-ere present Mr S. Turnbull (chairman), Messrs Connett, Smith, Western, and Yule. Correspondence was read from Messrs Roy aaid Wilson re outstanding rates. Mr Orbell attended the meeting, and reported that Mr Richards had finished the Cross Road contract.

The Chairman reported that Mr Smith and himself had arranged to make an entrance for Mr Langman to hip property on the Cross Road ; also to in a culvert and metal same and pay Mr Longman's expenses. Mr J. Hcnwood attended, and presented a petition from settlers on the upper end of Woftloy Road to raise a loan of £200 for constructing the Davis Road, each loan to be handed over to the Moa Road Board for expenditure-, and the clerk -w«to-<lirected to take the necessary stops to raise the loan.

Itesolved that a wa^jo of 8s per day bo paid for all casual labour in future.

Four applications wcro received for position of surfacemen^ and Messrs T. Paul and L. Loveridge, the former surfacemen, were appointed. Lots wero drawn for the twd members to "retire at end of yealr. Messrs Connett and Tnrnbull retire.
