DUNEDIN, June 28. An * inquest was held touching the death of Henry Garrett, carpenter, whose body was found on Wednesday at PeJicnet Bay butts. * Dr. Gordon Mac Donald deposed that * bullet had penetrated the apex pi the heart and base of the lung, and embedded itself in the spinal column. Sarah Garrett, widow of deceased, said deceased had been despondent and low-spirited. Deceased had always had p<ior health, and had rheumatic fever twice. Their relations were of the happiest. She did not know that her husband's financial affairs were in a complicated condition until after his death.

Herbert Austin, a traveller,' said de-r ceased never consulted a medical man, and could not be induced to do so. The jury returned a verdict that death was caused by a gunshot wound, selfinflicted, when deceased was in a state of temporary insanity.
