EMPLOYERS' PROTEST.

M The following resolution - was passad* a^, the meeting of the Employers', Association to-day: — '"Phis meeting enters ejnphatic protest against the recent decision of the Arbitration Court in connection with the Gisborne painters award, where it^fined an employer £v 'or committru;? a breach, notwithstanding that ths Labour Department had teeover'ed the difference in wages and" v, as satisfied that the breach had been unwittingly committed, and the pur-, poses ,of the Act satisfied. Farther, that the matter be referred to a Parliamentary Committee, with* a, view to securing an amendment in the Act in the direction of having all enforced cases dealt with in a judicial way by the Department." "That the meeting further resolves to ask the Federation to enter an emphatic protest against Mr T,regear's recent utterances at a lecture $0 Urade unionists in Wellington, •and, if possible', to prevent, the recurrence of such a procedure in future."
