THE DROWNED WEN.

MR. FORBES. The Eltham Argus says that the statement supplied by the Press Association agent at Auckland is, incorrect. The drowned' man is Mr. Magnus Forbes^ a well-known settler in , the Hawera district/ He owned several farms in the Taranaki district, and had a large holding at Kawhia. It was his custom to visit the northern farm periodically, and he was no doubt journeying there at the time of the wreck. He has a farm on the Campbell Road. The Hawera Star says: — Mr. Magnus Forbes was a well-known and highly respected settler, who has lived in this district for many years past. He intended permanently settling at Eiawhia at an early date. He was a son of Mr. John Forbes, senr., of Normanby, and. leaves a wife and family to mourn his untimely end. %
