FIRE AT MATAURA.
CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE. Per Press Association. GORE, June 10. A fire occurred at Mataura this morning, which destroyed a building belonging to' John Louden and occupied by H. J. Greenwood (news vendor), A. J. Louden (cycle works), J. Louden (wheelwright), and • the Southland Drapery Coy. > 1 Moses -Louden and Joseph Lees were sleeping on the premises and had a narrow escape. Nothing was saved worth mentioning. It was a calm night or the damage would have been greater as there are no fire preventatives. Insurances: Louden, £100 in the Royal on.tlm smaller building. The insurance on the main building is not ascertainable. A. J. Louden was insured for £100 in the New Zealand office and £100 in the Royal. The stock and fittrngs of J. Louden were insured. There was £30 on the stock in the wheelwright shop; and £10 on tho tools in the New Zealand office. H. J. Greenwood had £100 on the stock in the Victoria, and the Southland Drapery Co. £150 on the stock in the Liverpool, London, and Globe office.
