THE EXHIBITION.

By Telegraph.— Special Service. CHRISTCHURCH, March 15. There was a very fair attendance at The Exhibition again to-day. Mr Gregson, a London organist, gave his second organ recital, which was very largely attended.

Recently ths Government communicated with the Education Departments ot several countries, and procured a number of exhibits. From Germany tnere came some very fine working drawings, giving full details of construction of school desks for school children of various siaes. The Education Department of Japan forwarded a •series of working drawings and photographs of several desks used in that country. The best collection came from the United States, and comprises a scries of photographs of public schools, high schools, and technical school buildings. Photographs of various classrooms in some of the larger schools of ftew York are most interesting. A number of colonial inventions are also shown. Extensive preparations are being made by the Fire Brigades' Association for the demonstration of fighting the Hames. A large building is in course of erection for the demonstration withers the Exhibition sports ground. In addition to this exciting scene there will be a display of fireworks by Pain and Sons. The double bill is fixed for next Wednesday night. On Thursday night a water carnival and pyrotechnic display w ju be given by the fire brigades on Victoria Lake. The fifty thousandth person to make the ascent of the Exhibition tower received a memdnto of a postcard album and complete set of postcards yesterday. Twelve hundred persons made the trip in the elevator during the day. "Wonderland's" exciting gold rush will take place on Friday, March 22nd. A gold nugget, valued at £10, will be buried in the sand, and licenses to dig for it will be sold to the public at sixpence each, the nugget to belong to i/ho discoverer. • A beauty show on a large scatej and *a physical development competition, will be held on the same date. It has been definitely decided that the Exhibition will not be opened on Good Friday. The two tons of South Australian grapes reached Christchurch this morning, and>were on sale at the Exhibiti6n # during the day an 4 evening, and met with a very keen demand. The Government have .agreed to grant free admission to the firemen taking part in the forthcoming demonstzation.
