A deputation yesterday waited on the Premier asking that tie .Government should acquire the Bellevue Gardens at the Lower' Huti, /which' the. present owner says he twill cttt up Ifor building sites. Sir Joseph' Wiard said the Government had no power to purchase gardens. If local bodies really desired ta purchase the property, he was prepared, without 'in any .way committing the Government otl the subject, to introduce legislation.- inext session empowering the acquisition! of the gardens by the local bodies interested.
