Once more Christmas is upon us, and before aaot'her issue of the Herald reaches our readers >tfae festive season will have come and gone. We therefore taki°i this opportunity of observing the time-honoured custom oi wishing our readers the compliments of the season. Happily in this fair colony there 1 is very little alloy of poverty and misery in the prosperity and happiness of the people, suqh as exists in all old countries. Hei*e there ard few who > have no Christmas dinner to enjoy, no friendly greetings to make the occasion one of joy. And this year the oolony is doubly, fortunate, for rarely, if ever, in its history, has there been a period when

'prosperity was- so general. There is no unemployed difficulty, for work is plentiful for all who want it.
