A Wellington resident ibas complained that on -applying for accom- ( medation at a second-class hotel in Christchurch! during the Exhibition | season, he was quoted £l 0 10/ per week, or 30s per day. In 1 reply to ( that complaint the officials of the 1 Licensed Victuallers' Association, state that the hotel 1 keepers had. assured/ the A housing committee of the Exhibition,, i that no substantial' increase in- the - present rates would be made, and that agreement had been kept. The maximum^ amount being charged by , the leading 'hotels in Christchurch was \ 15s per day. ; There is widespread regret at the, t resignation of Mr Allan,- and members of the Executive Committee urge ' that Mr G.
