At the adjourned' meeting of the IWak apu Licensing 1 Committee ,*o-'day, it was insisted that there musti 'be a new license for one country hotel, and three nn'onths' ad joumfment. was allowed to permit of some otiber person applying. The Chairman said the Ccftnmittee could have refused 1 the license owing to tbe unclean; comditiooi in which the hotel had been, found. Oth-, er adjourned . applications were further , deferred to ■enable the coftnpletion of improvements insisted on. large petition" and counter petition were received regtard'ing the Te Rahui Hoiael, 'Waiapu, which the police had 1 reported was unnecessary. The lOhairxnlan said the Committee . were satisfied as io the accommodation , provided, and it was useless to take evidence, because even if they concluded! that *fcbe house -^was not feqiiired, they had no power to refuse the license-on that ground.
