THE CREDIT SYSTEM.
(To the Bdifor.) ' | Sjr,_l notice in your paper a lot of •writing about this here credit business Now, I think it, is my duty, as a worki ing man to have my little say. Now! ■ is it not a fact that each woek we
work-ng men look for our wages when due. Well, so do the grocer, naker, .butcher, draper, and all the rest of the tradesmen. I am not the bloke lo jo and try and follow fashion and keep up style, as it is called, but 1 go the way of the righteous and pay all my just debts before 1 go to any pleasuie or nave 1.-jy glass of grog. Sfow my missus is just ihe same at* myself. She believes in paying as we go. How on earth can a man who is getting his tnirty Jive shillings or two pounds a week expect to go to race meetings, and have the best seats in the Opera' House on such a small salary ? Let" them all do as I do, pay their bills first, and then the fun after if they can run it. Look ot the little blokes about nineteen or that Ihe tailors_and others allow tide for months in and out, even to tne ex"- , tent of £9 or more. These same blol.es can ,go every day ul the week, oc when there is race meetings on, and have their few bob on with the bookies that infest the town, and their bets have to be cash. Now let some of these chaps take my [advice aiid pay their debts, and th<hi after that, when they have money left, do their bet-■Aii-r. Although only a working bloko I sympathise with all the uatLsmeii in this town, and hope ihyt nforc lonpthey will have* some scheme ii»:it will .stop credit altogether, as it is a curse as muck as the drink and gambling that is going on in this vown.-1 am. &C, PAY CASH.
