MB. NBWTON KING'S WEEKLY AUCTION REPORT.

At the ffayuiarket on Saturday only a few pigs came in and • these sold at from 7s to ISs, set harrows. £1 15s. Frxrit and shelter trees sold at low prices. At the mart some splendid poultry were penned and reaMsed - satisfactory prices. Pullets made Is 4d to 2s 7d, hen Is to 2s, cockerels • 7d to 2s 6d, ducks Is 7d to 2s Id. furniture, oil-coats and sundries made low prices. On Monday I held a sale of purebred poultry in the Drill Hall, when there was a good attendance of the public. Bidding was brisk in the early stages of the sale, but prices were sdmewhat in favour of buyers later on. I offered,' altogether, 290. birds of all classes, of which 160 were sold at the hammer and about 20 more privately the ' following morning. The Orpington breed was decidedly in evidence so far as numbers, were concerned, but silver Wyanrdottes were most in request and sold well. The highest priced bird sold was a white Wyandotte cockerel of Mr R. S. Masters', a first prize winner at the previous week's show — a very nice bird indeed. Another good-looking cockerel of the same breed, the property of Mr B. Grifiiths, also sold well. Black Orpingtons, of which there were some good birds, also made fair prices. Next to thvs>a came the Leghorns, whilst duck's were decidedly^ on the cheap, side. Altogether the sale was undoubtedly an improvement in every way on the one held last year. Cattle.— On Saturday, 529 th tilt., at Eltham, I held a clearing sale of Mr P. Death's farm, stock and effects, There was a good attendance and satisfactory^ prices were realised for all lines. Hoggets made 14s Id, mixed sheep 19s Id to 1 9s 9d, store cows £2 2s, weaners £1 Is, bull* £1 2s to £1 7s. Furniture and sundries made fairruteg. On Monday at Warea Mr H. J. Valintine's sale was well attended. The cows were a very nice lot and in excellent condition and realised fair prices, all round. Early calvers made £8 to £8, late do- £3 10s to £6 ss, light draught horse £20 ss, harness pony- £11 12s Bd, gig .615, iurniturc and sundries sold at prices in favour of purchasers. On Tuesday at Waiw«.kaiho there was a small attendance of buyers. Bidding was v^ry quiet and sales dioicult to effect. Weancrs made ]7s, good calves 23s to '535, a small line of hoggets wont at 31s Id. The same day at Toko 1 held a clearing Kale on account of Messrs Carpenter Bros. There was a good attendance and satisfactory prices ruled throughout the sale. Early calvers

made £5 10s to £7 ss, backward do. £3 to £4 ss, weaners 16s 6d to*3ls 6d, draught horse £24 10s, trap mare £21 10s, buggy mare £5, 2-yrs filly £16 10s, pearling foal £5 17& 6d, j | breeding sows £4 5s %o £6, store i pigs 14s. On Wednesday at Hurford , Road there was a very small attendance at ; the sale of dairy stock on account Mr j A. Standish. The cows were mostly in backward condition, and did not appear to advantage. There being little j or no competition the majority o£ the herd were passed in Ytntil later on I in the season. Cows in milk made £3 2s 6d to £4. On Wednesday and Thursday, in conjunction with Messrs Nolan, Tonks and Co., I . held a most successful clearing sale on account of Mr. Jenkins. There was a large attendance, and satisfactory prices were realised throughout the sale. j
