Before the Laiids Commission, Mr. Scobie, a number of Parliament, stated' ihat he received two sums of. £25 each for services tonnected with land transactions. :

The Attorney-General deprecated the hysteria wliich had seized / the coininanity. ;He hadi thoroughly investigated the position, and toot all responsibility in regard to Willis. There was no legal grounid on which' the Government could detain Willis.
