A PECULIAR CASE.
Per Press Association.
/ Thames, May 29. What is probably the first case of the kittd in the colony occurred in connection -with the of the X-Rays. Mr Wright, instructor of electricity at the Thames School of Mines, as the result of opera-tions, suptained an injury to his hand in * the shape of an electrical burn. This , occurred j some months ago. Medical advice was then sought, but no cure was effected. It appears as thougk^tlie T .Bays destroyed the blood tissues* of tlie hand. The bones are not so far ' affected, and under treatment they grow stronger, but are unable to- maintain tHeir strength, and break down. The injury appears j as formidable aud painful as ever. A recommendation, has been made by the Minister of Miaes, and Mr Wright will probably be jjcanted- ebfcjtnonths leave to proceed Home and seek expert advice, as with; the 'danger of the bones becoming affep^ed hej may lose hi 3 haad or arm, as in similar cases reported from JBJdison.'s, Laboratory. j
