HOCKEY.
The match between the lnglewood Giriis,'! Hookey Club and 1^« AVhakaIlikas, played on the racecourse on Saturday afternoon, resulted in a win for the local girls by throe goals to ml. The game was a very pleasant one and woll contested, though ihc Whakatikas held ''their opponents safe throughout- Miss May McEwen played the best game on the field and scored twice, Miss Dorothy Simpson notching the third goal. Miss Elsie Smith was very safe in goal, Mr ITallett was a strict and impartial referoe, and Messrs J. Fraser and Turner line umpires. The visitors wtre entertained at afternoon tea at the Kia Ora rooms by the local Club after the match. Interest in the o-irls' game is increasing, there being a good number of spectators on Saturday.
