LEPPERTON SPORTS.

The Lepperton sports, which were hold on Easter Monday, were a great success in every way. The attendance was good, entries for various events were numerous; the contests were keenly fought out, and generally the, true spirit of sport prevaded the whole gath^ng. In the horse events there were no tight bridles, and whatever the next day may have had in store for the sprinters, there Vere no "tired" legs on the Monday. Luckily the rain held off, though a few cooling drops fell while the ladies were engaged in a "Death and Glory Boys" tug-o -war. Probably the concussion of applause was responsible. Following are the chief events and winners :—: — Tilting at Ring (bicycles)— Spackman 1. lOOuds Handicap— A. Stimpson 1. Tilting at King (horses) (21 entsies)—L. Carter 1. Horse Jump (9 entries)— R. Ritchie's Alpine 1. Factory Suppliers' Race— C. Munro 1, Ladies' Driving Race— Miss I. Giddy Rescue Race (horses)— C. Potier 1. , District Handicap— A. Wright 1. Married Men's Race.— X. Holden 1. Married Women's Race— Mrs H. Hall Tho Men's Tug-of-war was won by the bachelors, but the married ladies in their contest with the spinsters gallantly upheld the honours of matrimony, and gained as usual a complete victory.
