Band Notes.
The Garrison Band had a pretty heavy day on Sunday. In the morning they played ihe volunteers in camp to St. Mary".; Church and back to tKe camp ; and in the ,evening -they gave a concert' in the Theatre Koyal. There was a good attendance in the jibeatrc, and the several numbers played by the Band were greatly appreciated. Vocal numbers by. Miss K. Murphy and Mr j.'^yan, -two • popular favorites, also contributed greatly to the success ol the concert." ]n ihe , afternoon the . Band . played in the- Becreation Grounds' in conncc1 ion with the oamp,., f The volunteers were "ai home/ 'and' Ihe public mustered in great force, to inspect the camp, admire the local Tommy Atkins, and quaff the afternoon tea that was kindly provided by the men in camp. The general verdict of thy ladies, was that the tea was of nice strength and fragrant, the biscuits were toothsome, and tho refreshments were servod in style. The ladies also admitted that the. volunteers were a tine body of men, and "ihat the uniform fitted them lib'; a glove. There was a large attendance at the Municipal concert given on Friday by the Town Band, (under the conductorship o, Mr McNeight) at " The Pines." A good programme was played, somo of tho items being particularly fine, and all being treated in that admirably smooth fashion for which the Band has {for many years been noted.
Mr Colley, an experienced bandsman, was playing with the Garrison Band on Sunday.
