Arnst, Ashburton (110 yds) 1, B. Campion, W r anganui (250 yds) 2, W. Scott, New Plymouth (210 yds) 3. Time, 2min 20 sec. Major Taylor started in the first heat. D.C.L. Amateur Shield Race, 2 miles — W. Langdown 1. Express Half Mile.— B. Campbell 9o yds 1 ; V. O'Donnell, 90yds 2; F. C. Evans, 80yds, 3. Time 60secf Buck Jumping Race. — C. Clarke 1. New Zealand Motor Cycle Race 5 miles ; first prize £25.— Jessop, 60sec m h.p. MinerCa) 1 ; G. Porter, 50y e c, The officials met after the Wheel Race and disqualified A. Huston for the rest of the meeting for foul riding. In the preliminary to the lftotor cycle race S. Dumergue, on a motor, in rounding the south-east corner got on too much speed, and ran into the fence. He was heavily thrown a»d badly shaken, but recovered consciousness in ten minutes. The motor was a complete wreck.
